“In my work, the interest is centered in the investigation of the landscape constructed by people; the city and its urban and industrial architecture and the social and historical phenomena that define this landscape.

By working with elements that surround us daily, people feel connected to my work because they are elements that they recognize and they also generate personal memories or stories with these objects or spaces. This connection is what I felt in Phoenix when I realized a short artist residency in this city in 2015. While there, I presented the project Phoenix Industrial Park with phICA in its Onloaded series of solo exhibitions in repurposed shipping containers.

Aside from the connection I felt was generated between my work and the Phoenix community, I am now convinced that the brief exposure I had to the architecture of Downtown, the tours I made, and the visit to some of the constructions of Frank Lloyd Wright and James Turrell were also detonators of what are my current projects focused on research on Modern Architecture.

In short, it was a great personal and creative experience working with phICA and staying briefly in Phoenix since it has already helped define the new paths that my work will travel in the coming years.”

“En mi trabajo el interés a estado centrado en la investigación sobre el paisaje construido por el hombre; la ciudad y su arquitectura urbana e industrial y los fenómenos sociales e históricos que definieron este paisaje.

Al trabajar con elementos que nos rodean cotidianamente, la gente se siente conectada con mi obra, porque son elementos que reconoce y que además le generan recuerdos o historias personales con estos objetos o espacios. Esta conexión es lo que sentí en Phoenix cuando realice una pequeña residencia es esta ciudad, donde presente el proyecto Phoenix Industrial Park con phICA en el 2015.

A demas de la conexión que sentí se genero entre mi trabajo y la comunidad de Phoenix, ahora estoy convencido de que el pequeño acercamiento que tuve a la arquitectura del centro de la ciudad, en los recorridos que hice, y la visita a algunas de las construcciones de Frank Lloyd Wright y de James Turrell fueron detonadores también de lo que son mis proyectos actuales centrados en la investigación sobre la Arquitectura Moderna.

En resumen era una gran experiencia personal y creativa la estancia con phICA y en la ciudad de Phoenix, ya que ayudo a definir también los nuevos caminos que mi trabajo recorrerá en los próximos años.”
