Paul Wilson

Open March 15, 2024

Curator Exhibition Statement

Some of us know Phoenix native Paul Wilson as “the guy who remade The Poseidon Adventure,” while others think of him as the artist whose work of the last 16 years has reimagined alleged assassin Lee Harvey Oswald as a swoony dreamboat who never hurt a fly. Still others know Wilson as “that 1950s guy” whose beautify-appointed mid-century home has been documented in print and on television.

An Evening with Paul Wilson is a celebration of all of these men. One of Arizona’s most fascinating local artists, Wilson is a painter, filmmaker, and assemblage artist who’s fascinated with pop culture and post-Cold War chaos; a man whom Kirstie Alley once referred to in The National Enquirer as “that weirdo who’s in love with my husband.”
