Exhibition Curator Text

Bjorn Bengtsson draws his artistic inspiration from the environment around him and the spirituality he finds within it. Viewing nature as a form of spirituality allows him to find balance in life and influences his artistic practice in his paintings, music, and writings.

Bjorn has always been attuned with his practice, drawing consistently early in life. Living in Mesa, Arizona, he prioritizes his time to spend a moment in nature, appreciating the beauty and complexity of the Arizona landscape. Taking the time spent within it and translating those moments into his work. He first began to expand his artistic endeavors with oil paints after being inspired to do so while in college. After his first use working with oil paints, he found a deep appreciation for the medium and the possibilities the medium had for his creative view.

Nature Love pays tribute to the art found within nature. Bjorn views art found in nature as one’s personal relationship with the environment around them. To him, creating flower arrangements, being surrounded by trees, gardening, walking in nature, and awareness of the interval of seasons all ground him in his practice.

Bjorn is currently completing his bachelor’s degree in Philosophy at Arizona State University while he continues his creative pursuits in his paintings, music, and writings.
