M.A.R.S. CHICANO ARTISTS PRINTS

These prints are available exclusively through the Phoenix Institute of Contemporary Art. Several editions are sold out with very limited quantities of other editions available for purchase. Sales of prints support phICA programming. The purchase of M.A.R.S. prints is an affordable way to start or add to a personal art collection while supporting phICA and acquiring what have become important historical documents.

Between the years 1985 and 2000, prominent Chicano artists came to Phoenix to participate in an artist-in-residence program which included a solo exhibition at the historic M.A.R.S. Artspace (no longer in existence) in Downtown Phoenix and a one-week residency with one of two master printers, John Armstrong, Armstrong-Prior, Inc. and Joe Segura, Segura Publishing Company.

From this collaboration, a limited edition, five-color print was produced and made available for sale to benefit M.A.R.S. The print series has be-come an important resource for the study of Chicano Art made during the last part of the 20th Century primarily in the Southwestern United States.
